Givenchy launched its first fragrance in 1957 (L'Interdit, made for Audrey Hepburn) and has been part of LVMH's beauty division since 1988. The house produced several genuine landmarks during the 1960s through 80s (Gentleman, Ysatis, Amarige), most of which have been reformulated past recognition. The current catalog is a mix: the L'Interdit relaunch (2018, by Dominique Ropion) is genuinely good and brings the original concept into modern proportions; Gentleman EDP is a credible woody-iris-leather. Most of the rest is solid designer-tier without being memorable.
