Jean Paul Gaultier launched his fragrance line in 1993 with Classique (the corseted-torso bottle) and followed two years later with Le Mâle (the sailor-torso bottle), composed by Francis Kurkdjian. Le Mâle redefined men's fragrance for the late 1990s and is still one of the best-selling masculines of all time. The house was acquired by Puig in 2016 and the catalog has expanded considerably, though most people who know the brand still think of those first two icons.
