Prada

Founded 1913 · Mario Prada · Italy

Prada's fragrance program is licensed to Puig and has been since 2003. The house's olfactory identity is harder to pin down than most. The catalog jumps between cool retro-aldehyde compositions (the original Prada Eau de Parfum, 2004), sheer aquatics (Luna Rossa Ocean), and dense oriental amber territory (Candy, L'Homme). The Olfactories collection (2015) was an ambitious 10-perfume launch by Daniela Andrier exploring abstract Italian themes. Most of it is interesting, none of it sold particularly well. Prada fragrance reads "fashion-house concept" more than "perfume house," and that's reflected in how unevenly the catalog hangs together.
