calone

The molecule that invented the aquatic 90s. Calone smells like a slice of cold watermelon left next to the ocean: salty, slightly melon-like, with a sharp marine bite. Overused in CK One, Acqua di Gio, and basically every department-store cologne between 1995 and 2005. Used sparingly today for a clean, breezy lift in the top notes. Volatile and short-lived, mostly gone after the first hour. Pairs with citrus and ozonic notes.

Also known as: calone 1951, watermelon ketone, melon accord
