ethyl-maltol
The molecule that smells exactly like pink cotton candy at a county fair: sugary, warm, slightly burnt-caramel underneath. Ethyl maltol is the secret behind Thierry Mugler Angel and basically every sweet gourmand released since. Adds an unmistakable candy-floss lift to a fragrance, often in trace amounts to round out berries, vanilla, or praline. Long-lasting and loud. Easy to overdo, easy to recognize once you know what you're smelling.
Also known as: maltol, cotton candy molecule, caramel ketone
